Default Ski helmets

Hi everyone,

I am a student and am researching ski helmets for a marketing portfolio. Would you be able to provide me with any information about the ski industry and how it is moving forward. As I am focusing on ski helmets, any information you can provide me with about how they are made, how they are differentiated from each other in the market and any new technologies which are being developed will be appreciated.

You can contact me by my email address with any information or advice:

vh.tmayer@ecclesbourne.derbyshire.sch.uk

I would be grateful if you could fill in the following survey I have made which will help me with my market research.

Thanks,

Thomas Mayer

I filled out your survey, but I dont think I have any info for you regarding helmets.
Maybe if you tried contacting the individual helmet companies?

I tried to take your test but it really isn't geared for someone that doesn't think ski helmets are necessary at all. I am just getting back into skiing, the last time I skied was 2000 but I don't think I ever saw anyone wear a ski helmet before. Yes of course a helmet could protect you, but whats next, running, jogging or walking helmets?

That's just my 2 cents.

Thanks,
Brad

I would have to disagree with you here. I think ski helmets are totally necessary especially if you are travelling at high speeds. I'm a bit shocked that you haven't ever seen anyone wear a ski helmet before, they are becoming an essential piece of equipment on the slopes now. Many resorts actually require kids under 16 to wear a helmet when skiing.

I just have to ask, people have been skiing for 100's if not 1000's of years and all the sudden (in the last 5+ years) you need a helmet? I understand if you are trying to ski on the "rails" or any other metal/plastic/wood structure, in that case I would also recommend a cup but for regular skiing I just don't see the need. I skied for 30 years (1970-2000) on the hardest runs in Washington, Oregon & Idaho and never needed one.

Well, I skied for 34 years with no helmet and a freak accident by another skier left me with a head injury that has changed my life and that makes me a believer now.

I'm on my way to fill out your survey.

Skiing technology has changed so much that if a newer skier does not know how to CONTROL the skis (which is how they USED to teach skiing...now they just teach how to USE the skis to ski for you) then you have a mountain full of danger.

Be smart. Use a helmet.
