hi

i am trying to find a tobogganing holiday if there is such a thing :o

I would like to go away for a weekend or maybe a week with our daughter who is 5yr old, i think skiing would be a bit too much for her but she would love zooming down a hill on a sledge/toboggan.

I see Austria promotes tobogganing, are there any other destinations like france that do the same?

I suppose what i am really looking for is rather than a ski resort is some sort of acvtivity style resort that specializes for kids.

Or could we just turn up at ski resort with a tobbogan, jump in a lski lift and then whizz down the hill with skiers?? :o:o i dont know the skiing do's and donts :o

any destination/resort recomendations??

Many ski resorts have a tubing park with a tow to get you back up the hill. My local resort has one. Wisp is the name of the resort. They also have a designated area to teach children to ski.

if your daughter is 5yr old I am sure, that she could be better in skiing after even an short holiday then her long-skiing parents. In A, F and also in Sw there are ski -clubs for the childrens

A five year old will pick up skiing fast. No worries there. I started my son skiing when he was still in diapers. He is five now and he can ski well enough to make it down some of the easier black diamond runs at our local ski hill.

Maybe sign her up for a lesson or two, she will probably love it.

5 yrs. old is a great age to strap the sticks to your feet. you'll be amazed at how fast she gets it. Then, go tobogganing in the evening, if she's still awake:)

As with the others have mentioned, her age is a pretty good age to start learning how to ski. You could teach her yourself but it would be better if its under a professional's mentoring and supervision.

You should get her to ski, it's great fun and she'll pick it up quickly as she'll be learning at a young age.
As for the sledging, toboggan runs are usually seperate from the ski runs. In Zermatt, Switzerland, there are a few toboggan runs that run right next to the ski pistes.
I'd say go for the skiing.

its a great place indeed, where in there are lots of family friendly places

I'm probably being a little biased because I have never been skiing anywhere else apart from Zermatt, although I have skiied in Georgia for two days.
