Braking any bone is not good. I feel sorry for the guy.

I always try to be as safe as possible and never try anything I think is outside of my capabilities - but even then accidents can happen!

I'm quite lucky, i have never broken a bone doing anything in my life, so i would not have a clue what it would feel like when you do break something. Must be really painful.

I actually broke my leg in norway last season, went outside the piste and into a little forest and suddenly there was a jump there and i couldn't stop. So i jumped on the jump which was pretty big ( about 1meter high ) and landed on a big rock which were the landing point. But i didn't land right on the rock i kind of landed on the edge of it so i ended up cracking my bone inside the leg, but even more painfull than breaking one. :) took me 3 months until i could walk again...

I remember myself flying over a car but luckly landed on snow again. Luck is sometimes with us.

I have a friend who has been working his ass off to save enough money to go & teach snowboarding in Borovets this season, he has just broken his leg by tripping off a curb (sidewalk for you yanks).

How unlucky can you get!!

I broke my clavical a couple of years ago. There is a thread on here somewhere...

It ended my ski season in December after only two days of skiing. Yes, it sucked.

On my 30th day of skiing in 2009 (March 2nd) I broke my fibula just above that bump thing in the ankle. If you are reading this closely, you'll realize that I broke my leg INSIDE my boot (spiral fracture). Went out in a blaze of glory (or so I think at least) doing bumps under the Orient Express lift at Vail. Sucked because the snow was great through March and April and it would have been a 50 day year otherwise. About 15 years ago I took and edge wrong at Breckenridge on my 2nd day of the ski season and broke off my greater tuberosity (a shoulder part that hangs off the top of your humerus). Recovery for the foot injury wasn't bad -- removable/velcro cast thing (so I could at least take a shower) and I could put an ace bandage on it at night. No surgery needed for either injury. the only side effect for the ski injury last year was gaining 25 pounds. Oh well, more skiing and cycling needed to get that taken care of!

I KNOW there are a lot of really bad injuries out there. I took a spill on my road bike a few year ago on loose sand and that resulted in another lucky turnout: some road rash and a misaligned reat derailleur. Skiing I consider myself very lucky too : no ripped out joints or closed head injuries.

Ski careful out there!

Actually, if you look at the upside of the situation, you could not go to work for a while, sleep, eat, watch tv, etc. It would be like a mini vacation. :D

Injuries are part of the sport. Sorry to hear that.

haha he shouldn't use his leg as an excuse to be lazy...he should be driven to get back on the slopes and break his other leg!!

I'm positive your friend doesn't agree with you, and you think it's funnier than it really is. Although it's true, injuries and broken bones are part of the sport, no pain no gain I guess.
