Anyone interested in joining a trip to Norway snowkiting?

Looking at organising a trip for Easter 2008.

Can arrange for instruction, equipment to be available on the trip.

Prefer self-catered or hotel accomm?

I can't make the trip, but I am interested inhearing more about snow kiting. What is it? How is it done? It sounds like something that is done on flat ground instaed of on a slope. Is that correct?

Snow kiting sounds like a very interesting sport and isn't something i've tried before. Is it hard for a skiier to take up / get used to ?

Snowkiting is a relatively new sport, developed from kitesurfing which already huge all over the world.

Basically you start by learning to "fly" your kite which can be done anytime with a kite school. It is sometimes best to get lpenty of practice with the kite on land before you start to try snowkiting. Once you have the basics you get your skis on! - or snowboard.

Generally it is advised to have a basi ski level - be comfortable on blues. Naturally the better you are at skiing the more naturally you will evolve on skis into snowkiting.

The principle is the same as sailing - use the kite to pull you along, edging your skis to move forward.As yo progress you will be able to move uphill and downhill using the kite to pull you or as a brake.

We practie during the summer months using mountainboards (big skateboards) or buggies.

There are now plenty of kite schools so check out to find one near you - I'm sure you'll get hooked! The great thing about snowkiting is once you have your gear you can practice anytime - and it's a very sociable sport.
