Hey all. I am new to skiing. This year will be my first for skiing. I have snowboarded for almost 10 years but due to physical limitations it is time to switch to skiing. I hope the transition will be simple. I am hoping to apply my knowledge of snowboarding and how that wide stick work and translate it to a skinny stick and the same concerpt times 2. I look forward to the season and the adventure and I look forward to the conversations that are to be had here on this forum, the information I will pick up on from those here sharing information and knowledge. I am looking to take advantage of the 3 class pack at Loveland Ski Area (opening tomorrow 10/16/07) and can't wait for the adventure to begin!

Cheers!

japato,

Welcome to TalkSki! Thanks for joining the forum and introducing yourself! I don't really have any experience boarding but I don't think you should have too much trouble with skiing. Your pretty lucky that you live beside a nice mountain, would there be much snow at this time of year?

Thanks,
Michael

We are getting more snow tonight. There are 2 places open (Loveland and A-Basin) with limited runs. They are making snow 24x7. The majority of the resorts in Colorado will open in the next 30 days

You shouldn't have a problem catching on. Its the same concept (edges and flex of the board/ski dictates how you turn) except you are now facing down the hill with your entire body.

Good luck!
