Clare,
As I'm sure you were aware the snow this season was exceptional in the alps, it's obviously impossible to forecast what the snow will be like this year.
However there are a few 'snow-sure' resorts that, due to their height are pretty certain to have snow. I think if you are looking for somewhere 'traditional' at Christmas then Austria is probabily your best bet.
I'll refer you to the following link - http://www.ifyouski.com/resorts/attributes/?resortattributes=SnowSure
Which has a list of heigh resorts that are likely to be snow sure, it also provides indepth information about each of the resorts.
Hope that helps,
Michael
Hmmm.....
Well I think generally anywhere in New England in the US. Also in Austria, there is a city called Innsbrook. There are good moutains there. One mountain is an Olympic mountain. It is a great place to ski. Hope this helps!

Maybe a good choice for you would be an accommodation in Alpe d'Huez (http://www.mountvacation.com/france/alpe-d-huez/). Because of very high altitude (1860m), snow is almost guaranteed.
