Renting skis online v in-resort

Hello folks. Iíve just joined the forum and this is my first post/question. Iím off to La Plagne in Feb 09 with some friends and I want to rent skis. Does anyone know if itís cheaper to rent the skis on-line ie before you get to the resort or to rent them in the resort? Iíve just been looking at prices and all the rental websites claim to give 20%+ discounts if you book on-line against what you can in-resort. Should I believe them? Or should I wait until I get there and can actually see the skis Iíll be getting? For info, Iím thinking of renting Salomon X Wing 8ís (or Tornado) or Rossignol Classic CX80s if I can get them.

I aways prefer to see what skis they have on offer and what condition they are in before parting with my cash. For a 10 quid or so more I'd probably wait until I got the resort.

Thanks, RichH. I'll bear that in mind then. Any other views/advice out there?

I'm totally with Rich. You're spending a wheelbarrel full of money, the place to economize is not on the skis...

Great result Ė I waited until I got to La Plagne as you guys advised and then negotiated the ski shop down to the Internet prices so I saved my 20% any way!! And when you only get 1 Euro for £1 these days, every penny counts. I hired Salomon X Wing Tornados and they were fine. The skiing was brilliant Ė we got fresh powder and the off-piste was amazing. Thanks for you help.
