Skiing Fernie, B.C.

Just Back in Oz from skiing that lovely Canadian Powder.

I went to two resorts, Whistler, hey as an Aussie I had to ski Whistler on Australia Day, that's par for the course.

But the snow I really liked was down in Fernie B.C., simply unbeliveable & during the week it feels like one's very own private resort. If anyone is thinking of heading that way, I can highly recommend the Powder Mountain Lodge on Hwy 3 / 7th Ave. The new Owners could not do enough to make one feel welcome & will definetly go "the extra mile" to make sure your stay is enjoyable. Being in town, one can find a good variety of cafe / resturants in a short distance, with 3 being less than 100 meters.
I found both Steph & Randy very helpfull & friendly at all times.

Cheers
The Ice-Cutter

Hi JoeJ,
Yep I could not fault it, perhaps the only bummer is the 3.5 hr shuttle from Calgary, but that's stuff-all . Being in Oz, I am used to driving + 4hrs to get to the snow. & it is not like Fernie.
As their solgan says "Legendary Powder" , they are spot-on. Get down there & cuts some tracks. Cheers.

I stayed in town ( rather than on the hill ), for that purpose.
There is a stack of pubs (with music at night) on 2nd ave, (that's the main drag), also the raging elk, right across the rd from where I was has I understand the cheapest beer in BC at $3.50 a glass! Edge of the World, is good for mexcian & spares etc for your snowboard, mid-week 1/2 price on (some) meals, & a good varitey of beers - Yes I tried them all ! The Curry Bowl, across the hwy is great for something a little more spicy !

have a good one.

Hi! There is actually an Airport closer to Fernie than Calgary - there is a new Canadian Rockies International Airport (YXC) located in Cranbrook, BC which is only about half an hour away from Fernie! Currently there are connecting flights from Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver, feel free to send an email directly to our Vacation Booking Experts at vacations@skircr.com. Let me know if you would like more information!
