Anyone done a ski instructors course?

Hi
After college i was thinkin about taking a gap year to do a ski instructor course.
Has anyone else done one, if so do you have any recommendations on resorts or companies?

I don't know too much about ski instructor courses. I did have a friend who spent 2-3 years at Jackson Hole and became a ski instructor there. I'll see if I can find out if he enrolled in any courses and what/where these happened.

Try contacting the mountain directly and ask them who they hire ski instructors. There may be an exam and test you'd have to past first.

I know that there are 11-12 week courses which you can go on to learn to be and get qualified as a ski instructor.
I was just wondering if any body had done one or had any to reccomend.

in canada, its a 1 week course to become a level instructor, costs about CAD$350. that lets you instruct in any canadian resort.The courses are run by CSIA and are normally run many times during a season, depending on resort. here at whistler, they do a level 1 MANY times each season. you need to reach level 3 to become a 'worldwide' recognized instructor

lovetoski mentioned a 12 week course, there are companies that offer you packages to come out and they do level 1 and 2 courses during that time.

Hi love to ski,

I did an 11-week course in Fernie, BC four years ago. It was a comprehensive instructor course that allowed me to get my level 1 and 2 on skis and my level 1 race coach certification too. I have since worked for three seasons in Canada as an instructor- i absolutely love instructing and the life but by far the best season I've had was the one in which I did the course. I wasn't that strong of a skier before the course and the changes I managed to make in 11-weeks were incredible. I would've never got to level 2 without it. I am now a level 3 skier and a level 2 snowboarder.

I am pretty sure there are a few great companies out there and i know there are a few really dodgy ones too as i researched courses before I did mine. I can definitely vouch for the company I did mine with. They are called NONSTOP ski and snowboard. I think their office is based in London.

The best advice I can give you when choosing a course provider is make sure you check what is and what is not included in the package. NONSTOP seemed to have the most good stuff included and the best feedback from past course participants so that is why i chose them. Good luck!

I did a 10 'GSD Ski Instructor course', the company was called 'Gap Ski and Dive' really because I wanted to be able to get some work in europe (switzerland) so their qualifications being BASI made it easier to get work in the British schools out there.
