Im in Nanaimo, so im stoked about this... an hour ferry ride and ill be up at the same mountain with the pros(come 2010 - Winter Olympics). Anyone else from B.C. and gunna attend(not participate) the Olympics? I've applied at Whistler so i can maybe get a job during the season and have a sweet stay there when olympics rolls around.

Woah. I wish I could be there! You're lucky that you live in/near Vancouver

Ahaha, I know.... when they announced the Olympics here i was just... theres nothing to describe it lol. Hopefully i can get the job out there, but if not, Nanaimo will be quite busy because of people staying out here and commuting to Vancouver rather than live the busy streets of Van. So either way, im gunna make a lot of money, and experience the awesome boarders first hand... gunna be SWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTT

Getting a job sounds good! I think you should go with that, would also mean you would get a lot of free boarding time as well

Im not sure if its free, especially around the time of the olympics, but im sure there would be some sort of discount... which would save me a lot of money. Also on lodging, possibly getting a place just for the time being up there would be sweet... that way i wouldnt have to commute like i normally do. Most likely all the money i'd make would go right back into it from lift tickets, housing and food, but in my opinion, its well worth it.
Shouldnt get my hopes up though, not positive i'd get it.

Sounds awesome, I was in Whistler a little bit ago in the summer. Though I did not go skiing or boarding there. Instead I went mountain biking, woo hoo! It was crazy fun. I remember they had the Olympics flags up at the time and I cant wait till they go to Whistler. I might go and see it..

I'm in Vancouver as well - this is really a great place for skiing. I've been here for several years, and before that I was living and skiing in Europe. It's really excellent place. Not only Whistler - I mean Whistler is good to spend 10 days, or at least a weekend. But what people do here very often is head to Grouse or Seymour (1/2 hour drive from downtown) after work, and ski until 10pm.
It's a bit expensive and it's getting more so though.
But still a great spot.
If you're interested - check out some of my photos (I'm not a pro photographer, so don't expect miracles) here:

Whistler is a great place to both be and to skii. The view and landscape is breathtaking as well as the slopes, awesome location to have a vacation in or just a weekend on the mountain.
