Broke my clavical (collar bone) today

my last post was about my first trip of the season, this post is about my last trip probably. i took a spill today and landed on my shoulder hard. snap. broken clavical. that happened at about 2:30 pm today. hospital visit and x-rays confirmed the break. poor me, please heap pity as i am taking the end to my ski season very hard. on the bright side, i have relatively minor pain. i was even able to ski myself to the bottom of the run immediately after the crash.

not even sure really. i may have caught an edge or something. it was actually more of a slow speed crash. i ended up falling forward after i lost my balance.

That's terrible news I broke my collar bone last year but not skiing, it's can be quite painful. It should be fully healed in about 2 months though so maybe you will get some more skiing in at the end of the season!

Thanks for the well wishes guys! Since I first posted this message I have had some more problems. I ended up getting some blood clots ( a result of the broken clavicle, but fairly rare) that worked their way into my lungs. It was a life threatening ordeal that ended up keeping me in the hospital for six days. I am out and recovering well now, and I had surgery on the collar bone about a week ago. It will heal up, but my doctor has ordered me to avoid anything other than light duty for three months. Skiing season is over for me this year, but by next year I will certainly be as good as new.

Thats pretty horrible losing out on the rest of the season, but it could have been worse as you said yourself.
Atleast you know you will be back skiing next season!
Good luck in your recovery!

It's all good now. I missed most of last year, but I am up and going this year. I skiied Monday with my son Zach and we had a great time. Hopefully I can stay out of the Emergency Room this year!

Good luck! Getting hurt is the worst. That's why I try to schedule all my injuries for the Summer so as not to miss ski season! ;-)
