La Rosiere
Has anyone skied in La Rosiere? I rather fancy being able to ski over into Italy, and maybe get away from the endless melted cheese at every meal!! I hear that the lifts are sometimes closed due to high winds.

Nice resort but I would personally prefer to stay the Italian side of the mountain, we found it was warmer the French side BUT very icy in the morning, very slushy toward the end of the day, the runs on the French side all converged onto 1 very busy piste where at the end of the day you were dodging many Bambis on ice or crazy fast boarders.
__________________The Italian runs seemed more varied and longer without the bottleneck. Food was cheaper and better quality. The planibel complex whilst a little souless is right on the slope and good value but we would walk into the town for a bit more night life. We went in January and had a great time, I would definately go again. The 2 drags that connect La Ros to La Thuile are VERY long and closed 2/6 days due to high winds. Make sure you don't get caught the wrong side, its a very steep taxi fare back by road. ![]() |

Many thanks for that - the high wind factor is obviously why they promote ski-kiting as an alternative! We are not going until March, so maybe we will be lucky.
