Old ski boots on new binding.

Haven't bought new skis in 2 decades. Am about to buy an Atomic GS 12 w Atomic Race 614 binding and want to use my 20 year old but well-preserved custom-fit boot. Someone told me that the sole of old ski boots was different from the one used in modern ski boots and will lead to unsafe release (or non-release). Apparently, a ski-shop guide refused to adjust a client's new ski-binding to an old boot because he could not guarantee safety. Anyone know anything about this?

Its time for new boots. The plastic is not designed to last for that long. Would you put 20 year old tires on a new car?
