Summer Railing

HIya, just wondering if anyone has experience with setting up summer rails. I've bulit a good ail and just need some advice on what to use for snow. Iv seen that fake snow and dont wana use that. Ive also seen this green matting type stuff, but dont know what it is. Any tips???

By the by i'm in the southern hemisphere so its summer here.
