Global warming and snowfall issue?

Hello,

What does everyone think about the issue of global warming and snowfall?

A good article here - http://www.pistehors.com/articles/global-warming.htm

Will there be any more skiing in 10 years time?

Tom,

Thanks for the great link, I don't know if there will be skiing in 10 years but I certainly hope so. We will just have to wait and see??

I hope there will be skiing forever.
Could you imagine if there was no snow ?.
Canada would no longer be ?The Great White North?,
We would just be ?.. The North.

It would be a bad thing, but I don't think it can last forever with the way we are treating the planet today.

There will still be skiing in ten years time for sure. But in the longer term, there could be problems I suspect. But we're not talking here about something that will change overnight... it's a gradual process, even if it has been accelerated.

I dont think global warming will affect our generation, but its our kids that we have to worry about.

I agree with utbeastie, I doubt global warming will affect our generation but it is imporatant to think to the future and try to do our best to decrease it.

the farmers almanac is always prtty acurate, when it comes to the weather. it is based on historical facts. being that this is true, i dont believe global warming is even a possibility. The earth goes through cycles, and it is goin thru another cycle right now. I believe that it will come back around to another ice age, and at that time, all the beach bums will be complaining about having no summers. But just think, when that happens, we can ski almost all year around! it does kinda stink getting out of the ice age now...but it will come back!

So why is CO2 concentration and methane building up in the atmosphere?

Doesn't the farmers' almanac base their predictions on the ENSO (El Nino Southern Oscillation)?
If it does, than it's predictions will be very close to reality, as long as the ENSO behaves regularly.
No one denies that the warming -cooling of the earth's oceans and atmosphere is cyclical. What the scientists r looking at is the rate of increase of green house gases in the atmosphere and the rate the temps of the oceans are rising. That can lead to higher concentrations of water vapor in the atmosphere and more intense precipitation/storms.

If global warming keeps increasing at its current rate, I would worry more about how our species will adapt to climate change and how much longer we can survive rather than how much longer skiing will last since higher temps will breed more insects, disease, and famine throughout the world.

Not directly related to global warming but.... I have decided this year to go with an environmentally friendly ski wax. I ordered some last week from a company in British Columbia. This is the only company I know that makes this product, and they have Snowboard wax too.

ski wax

thanks 4 the info. Do u know off hand if they make it 4 hot waxing or rub in ( i can check the link).

I have been hot waxing for years--but I presumed the rub on was more friendly to the environment.

There will still be skiing, but whether we are skiing the same mountains will be the question.
