If you only ski a few times a year then I would definately rent.

I think if you do not have a ski resort in your contry you should rent becasue if you buy you have to transport them every time which would not be to often.

buy ski's, if you know how to ski well you will have your own style of skiing anda ski to match it. and ski's arent changing much with in some cases 1mm a season which is nothiing.

From a sellers viewpoint, and a former coach, skiis are not the most important purchase. boots are the first thing to buy, you can ski anything and have fun, if your feet hurt though forget about it. Get a good pair of boots!!! than worry about the skis.
