I was skiing K2 Burnin' Luvs/Phat Luvs but when it was time (last year) for an all mountain ski, I just couldn't feel the (Lotta) Luv with K2's, so out with brand loyalty and into a pair of Salomon Geishas. I have Salomon boots as well, about five years old. Until 2008 we only skied about 20 days a year, but now it's closer to 80+. (With 2009/10 off for a cervical fusion, so two years of 80 days.)

I am 5'7", female, and over 60 . . . okay, okay, over 65, but not much . . . I am skiing on 153's. I have a fairly significant right side flexibility and strength problem (To quote our local PT, "I have never seen a hip that tight!") I like making quick turns, do not like speed, and ski almost solely trees and blacks at Big Sky. I'm told my biggest shortcoming is "between my ears". I just call it having too vivid an imagination!

Am I an absolute fool to be skiing something this short?

GOOD STUFF !!! and don't be ashamed of age, it's a badge of Honour!

My old man hung up the poles at ........... 80, & his best mate 81, they had been skiing together for over 50 yrs. That's something to be truly proud of!

Cheers

I wouldn't buy skis based upon what other people like. Your best bet is to go to your local ski shop or resort and demo a few pairs, then decide what's best for you.

what i can say.. is that it is nice for you to have your own or buy your own so that you can have a comfortable feeling when skiing.. but if you don't ski that much and you don't like to keep you ski stuff to used for your next ski vacation, better go for rent... ^^

Skibearll I'm just under 6 ft and ski a 156 because my joints just won't allow me cope with the weight of anything longer. I don't think your mad at all. If your having fun and enjoying yourself does it really matter what some weight/height/ability chart says is your optimal ski length?
