Argentina Ski Resorts

My girlfriend and I are heading to Argentina the last two weeks of July. Can anybody reccomend a good mountain/resort with a good variety in terrain/trails, as well as a good resort/upscale hotel?

Really what I am looking for is the closest thing to The Canyons or Park City that Argentina has to offer. Good resort/hotel and good snow. Snowboarder friendly.

She is an intermediate skier and I am an intermediate-advanced snowboarder.

Any other suggestions would be great. Thanks for the help.

May I recommend Bariloche? My ski club is going to Bariloche, Argentina at the end of August. So I have done a lot of research. Bariloche is known as "The Switzerland of the Andes".

Cerro Catedral is the largest and oldest ski area in South America. 39 lifts, 4,500 acres of (mostly intermediate) terrain, only 6,725 ft. elevation. There are buses that transport skiers from Brailoche to Cerro Catedral.

I can't really recommend a hotel as you do not metion any budget. Our ski club is staying at the Edelweiss. The guide book also recommends Hotel Cristal, Hosteria Las Marianas, Hotel Nahuel Huapi, El Casco Art Hotel, Cacique Inacayal, and Llao Llao Hotel & Resort.

I recommend Las Leņas, it's really good. There's some useful information on it here.

We ski Big Sky every year around the closing week - usually ending the second weekend depending on where Easter falls. There has always been plenty of snow. I've skied Vail and Aspen in early April with equally good results. Unless it's a snow drought year or VERY unusual March weather there will be plenty of snow on the hill of any major resort in Colorado, Utah or north of there that's still open in April-and most are. The roads will probably be clear, the village will be clear, flowers will be blooming and the skiing will be FANTASTIC!

Actually I can recommend first to go to toursdesport.com ski resort destinations map and select your desired mountain resort by clicking the state name, mountain name or by clicking directly on the map.
