Easy blue runs European resorts
I'm 59 and a nervous skier;had lessons now for 5yrs; for my next holiday I would just like to consolidate at the ski-ing level I am at now. I don't want to go faster! I cannot make myself be any braver! I don't want any narrow pistes. Have been to delightful tiny resort of Rauris in Austria for 4 yrs but for the last 3 yrs by day 3 of ski school the instructor has taken class onto blue runs which I find too hard & I have not enjoyed that. Have ended up ski-ing on the one blue mountain run I was happy with. I don't need a massive resort with a vast choice of runs; I ski for my own personal satisfaction and to get safely down, say a choice of 3 or 4 blue runs several times in one day would be an achievement for me. If there is a resort where I can do this using only a cable car/ or funicular or gondola (rather than drag/button lifts) so much the better (this is big plus-point for Rauris). Would welcome suggestions please, preferably Austria or Switzerland but would not rule out other European countries. Unlike most avid skiers I don't want a vast choice of pistes; I just need someone with personal knowledge and experience of specific eay blue runs to advise. Although I have not skied in France maybe I would be better going to a French resort with non-intimidating green runs? From what I have seen many of the French resorts are massive and therefore may not be suitable for my needs. Or can anyone come up with a good suggestion there? I am sure there are other older skiers like myself who just want to be able to achieve a certain level of comfortable ski-ing without frightening ourselves. Help please!

Les Gets in France has a great selection of gentle blue runs and some long runs that link into Morzine the next village. I work in Morzine as a ski instructor for Ski with Ease and will often take my guests over to Les Gets for some confidence building runs. It has a great friendly town and think it would make a great holiday destination. There are more advance ski runs should any of your party be looking for something more adventurous.
