Need help with a school project...ski resorts

Hello First official post. I am doing a school project on selecting a ski resorts. I wanted to see what data points were important to people when they look at a resort.

Some ones that I look at are: Total # of runs, # of highspeed lifts, vertical feet, annual snowfall.

I also want the resort to be affordable - cheap hotels and lift tickets.

Finally, it needs to be in a fun town and easy to get to. A lot of good restaurants and close to the airport.

Like I said, this is for a school project so the analysis has to be based on data and cannot be my subjective reasoning of why one resort is better than another.

What are some data points that you think about when selecting resorts?

Locally, i start with conditions and recent weather. Just want to make sure nothing is icy. From there, I go for size. I like my runs to be loooong and get bored easily. the more vertical the better. If its a powder day, then i look at snowfall.

you can also put to your list about the service the ski resort offered. their staff and their way of serving the customer. aside from that you also need to consider the packages they offer to their customers. many are looking for a ski resorts that offers great ski package for a vacation and that includes the accommodation.

I think the best way forward is to pick up a copy of Ski and Snowboard guide 2012 - this will have lots of your factors broken down for you. As well as that try websites like http://www.321ski.co.uk - great for school ski trips which I can personally vouch for, and we found their by resort/slopes breakdown useful on tehir webpages. Alternatively try and blag a freebie 'recce'... but good luck on that one!!!!!!

For future readers of this thread, I wanted to help you finding new resorts in Park City, Utah that are really cheap and a really good place to stay. Try checking out Vacation Quest on the web. They have really good properties to offer.
