What's your favorite book and why?
I love reading more than anything so of course, I can't help but ask this question. What's you favorite book and why? Mine is Face the Dagon by Joyce Sweeny. I love the author to begin with, but it teaches you that in life, you have to face that "dragon" and running away from it is not going to make things better.

I guess my favourite book or collection of books would be the Harry Potter series. I prefer the books to the film to be honest, the films tend to leave a lot of information out.

Must agree on the Harry Potter series. Best books in the series are Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

My favourite would have to be Orwell's 1984. Such a great read!

Interesting question because I read a bunch and don't really have a favorite book. I have some that I have read a dozen times over the years but not really any one favorite.

I guess if i had to choose 1 I would say "Into Thin Air" by Jon Krakauer.

Wow, I have so many great books I would like to put in this thread but, if I had to pick just one I would say Silent Spring by Rachel Carson. I'm an outdoor junkie so this book really opened my eyes to what we have done to the environment.

Lol, I'll toss another author in here for kicks, Vonnegut. Love the writing style he used.

Agatha Christie's books. About my favourite Hercule Poirot.

The Regeneration Trilogy by Pat Barker.

Andy B. 14-10-10 10:48 AM favourite book ?
That is really hard to nail down, I LOVE READING ! and I have a huge collection of a wide range of subjects.
Anything about WW 2 or the Vietnam war will spark some interest. The Battle of Long Tan was a very interesting & exicting read.
The "Left Behind" Series, all 15 volumes were very hard to put down. They are about The End-Time events from a Biblical perspective. and really get U in. Don't take to work - U won't get much work done!

So hard to pick a favorite, but I love "Prayer for Owen Meany" by John Irving and "Adventures of Kavalier and Clay" by Michael Chabon. I love both of those authors - definitely favorites of mine.
