Closest to "old school"?

Hello everyone,

I apologize if this has been covered before. I am thinking about buying new ski equipment after several years of very little skiing. I still have my old classic pair of Fischer RC4 205cm from the 90s. And I definately need new boots.

So here is my problem: I am now almost 40 years old, used to ski a lot until about 10 years ago, I would consider myself quite a good skier with a rather aggressive style. I always preferred skis that I needed to "work" and would not do the work for me. Well, times have changed and the equipment and technique is quite different now.

What would be your expert advice - for some one who wants to change his technique as little as absulutely necessary - as far as buying new equipment goes? My preference would be a pair of skis where it still makes sense to have them on the longer side, that are not very wide at the tips and not too narrow in the middle - i.e. that don't make turns by themselves but rather need to be forced. And that run very stable at higher speeds.

Would it for instande make sense to look for a pair of real competition downhill skis?

Thanks
